Volunteered architectural services for ten (10) homes, resulting in residential quality for low income community families. Habitat for Humanity, Anne Arundel, MD 1999 Designed for and won the "Ultimate Design Challenge" competition. Achieved an affordable and sustainable home for a multi-generational family in Maryland. (see Exhibit #2) Harbor Habitat for Humanity-Benton Harbor, Michigan, 1994 - 1997 Volunteered architectural services and plans for new offices, achieving affordable, quality office and storage space for the community agency. Habitat for Humanity Asheville, North Carolina, 1992 - Present Designed plans and prepared contract documents for nine (9) homes which were selected by the Habitat community as most livable and most enriching to the lives of community members. Habitat for Humanity Southeast Iowa 1993 Designed affordable and sustainable housing for community members. (see Exhibit #6) City of Benton Harbor, Grand Boulevard, Jean Klock Park Development, 2002, 2003 Responsible for housing and development of multi-use land plan resulting in a development Pokagon Band of Pottawatami Indians Dowagiac, MI 2001, 2002 Served as architect for a new indigenous tribal headquarters and affordable member housing. Berrien County Land Development - Southwest Michigan 2001- present Leader of private development and training of architectural student labor craftspeople. Krasl Art Center Building Design and Construction Campaign Saint Joseph, Michigan 1991 to 1998 Served as Committee Chairman, volunteered pro-bono conceptual studies for an addition and renovation of the Krasl Art Center. Responsible for implementing the addition and renovation success of the project. Achieved a revival of artistic awareness within the community. Twin Cities Symphony League-Saint Joseph, Michigan1985, 1988, 1991, 1996, 1998, 2000 Served as house walk presenter and architect of six homes which were presented to the public for viewing and symphony fund-raising. Achieved architectural awareness and support for Twin Cities Symphony. Fort Miami Heritage Society-Saint Joseph, Michigan 1995 Donated office facilities to the Landmark Center after their historic 1880 building burned. Saint Joseph Lions Club-Saint Joseph, Michigan 1982 to 1992 Member of the board of Directors, Secretary, served on the White Cane Committee and responsible for community involvement. Shawn Greer Residence-Benton Harbor, Michigan 1992 Designed pro-bono plans for a Barrier-Free home to accommodate an 18-year-old paraplegic Benton Harbor resident mistakenly shot and paralyzed. Berrien County United Way-Saint Joseph, Michigan 1984 Served as Chairman of Engineering Division. Responsible for community Involvement. Saint Joseph River Yacht Club-Saint Joseph, Michigan.1980 to 1989 Served on the Board of Directors, House Committee, as Building Committee Chairman. Prepared design and contract documents for the renovation of the facility and was responsible for the construction process and educating volunteer laborers. United States Peace Corps-Apia, Western Samoa 1971 to 1973 Volunteer architect for the Public Works Department, responsible for the renovation of the Public Works facilities, development of parks Master Plan for the capital and development low-cost housing prototypes and contract housing using indigenous materials and traditional labor skills.
